API Change (21.10): Portal User Will See Username of Provider Who Publishes Secure Message Instead of Provider Who Creates Secure Message

Summary: We are updating our secure messaging endpoints so that the correct provider's username is displayed in the patient portal.

Products: Communicator

Available: October 14th, 2021

  • The username of the provider who published the letter will now appear on the patient portal

  • API endpoints affected include these categories

    • Secure Messages

Endpoint(s) affected:

  • GET /patients/{patientid}/securemessage/inboxmessages
  • GET /patients/{patientid}/securemessage/{messagethreadid}

Is this a breaking change: No

What is changing

When a patient views a secure message via the portal, they will see the username of the provider who published the letter instead of the username of the provider who initially created the message.

Why we’re making the change

We’re making this change because when a patient views messages on their patient portal they see the original user that created the message as the sender instead of the provider that selects “publish to portal” option.

What will current users of the endpoint need to update in their code

No action needed.

What will happen if users of the endpoint do not update their code
